Yesterday, as I sat at my desk grumbling about how long it was taking me to set up my new computer and what a pain it was, I realized I needed a bit of an attitude adjustment. Yes, it's a pain for sure, but really the new computer is lightning-fast and I will no longer waste 45 minutes out of my day, just getting it to work in the morning. One day of setup will be recovered in a week! I should be feeling grateful that I have a new computer - period. Plus, it's kind of a small thing and my wasted day doesn't really matter much in the big scheme of things.
For some reason it's easy to notice the small daily inconveniences we go through and to be annoyed when little things go wrong, but harder to notice the good little things and sometimes it's harder than others to feel grateful. So here are 3 simple tips to get you on your path to gratitude.
3 Tips for living in gratitude
1. Keep a gratitude journal and list 3 things you are grateful for every night before bed.
2. Pay attention to the little things, like the person at the grocery store who grabbed a cart for you, getting that awesome parking spot when you're in a hurry, your dog's joy when you get home. Don't let those good little moments go unnoticed.
3. In contrast to tip number 2, focus on the big picture. Maybe your car battery is dead, but lucky you, you HAVE a car, and two years from now that dead battery today really doesn't matter.
What I'm grateful for
I'm grateful for my family, my friends, my dogs, my home, the internet, technology, coffee, chocolate, my bed. I guess all the regular things. But this year is a little different for me and I'm grateful for the life I get to live as a pet photographer. I am grateful for every single client I've had this year and every dog I've photographed. It's been a crazy whirlwind of a year, and I've worked a lot, but I'm grateful for every second of it.

Nicole Hrustyk - Seriously! Upgrading phones has become seamless, why is it still so time-consuming to set up a new computer. But really that is a dumb problem, and we have too much to be grateful for to waste thoughts on dumb problems.

Tracy Allard - I saw myself in your opening comments, I LOATHE "moving into" a new computer - so much work. Glad that you snapped yourself out of it because yes, so many of us do have so much to be grateful for. We have to remind ourselves of that regularly!
