Whether you plan to be in your dog's portraits or not, this is for you!
But I don't want to be in the photos
Most of my clients just want images of their dog and they don't want to be in those images. I completely understand, I don't want to be in photos either. I just want to see my gorgeous dog. But, even if you don't want to be in the photos, this applies to you.
What not to wear
I think it's easiest to start here. I know the 80's are long gone (yes, I grew up in the 80's - eek!), and thankfully, nobody wears fluorescent clothing anymore, so I'm not expecting anyone to show up in neon orange. But, it's best to avoid wearing a bright colored t-shirt (I'm sorry flyball peeps), because when you're next to your dog, holding the treat, ball, or whatever the bestest reward is, there is a good chance that bright shirt is going to cast its color onto your dog - even though you aren't in the photo.
So I recommend sticking to earthy colors that won't make your dog look the wrong color. Yes, Photoshop can fix it, but it gets messy when your red dog, has the wrong red color cast.
What to wear
Like I mentioned above, earthy colors are usually soft enough to not reflect colors.
Do you have a favorite pair of boots, that you would like in the image? Where them! We can definitely work with those.
If we plan to do a silhouette, try to avoid overly loose clothing. Silhouettes, look best with some shape, and loose clothes will add fake pounds. Nobody wants that!

Carol - Good point about watching out for unwanted extra pounds from clothing! Ha. Sometimes I need to remember that in my daily wardrobe, too. Especially during these work-from-home days!
