Why Lake Mead is one of my favorite dog photography locations
Lake Mead is fun
I hate when my dog has the best time of his life, said no one ever! It's impossible to not feel joy while watching a dog play without a care in the world. The rest of the world and all the problems just slip away, and who doesn't need that? Happy playing dogs are definitely on my list of favorite things to capture and Lake Mead is SO fun for dogs who love to swim and chase toys into the water.
Lake Mead is beautiful
Maybe not in the same way that Lake Tahoe is beautiful, but in its own way. The water is clean and beautiful and when the sun is setting, the color is gorgeous! With the golden light hitting the water, the mountains in the background, and some awesome clouds in the sky, WOW, WOW, WOW! Two of those three things can be counted on; the sun setting and the mountains in the background. The clouds can't always be counted on to appear, but amazing images are still going to happen, I promise!
Pappy
Pappy, one of the Pawtastic Friends 2022 calendar contest winners, has a ton of energy and loves the water, making him a perfect dog for a lake session and of course for a summer spot in the calendar.
When we arrived, we started with some action shots allowing Pappy to retrieve a toy in the water. He somehow managed to splash more water around than I thought was possible, making his splash photos a bit too splashy to see him through the water. But he had a blast.
After that, we took a few portraits with some breaks for Pappy to play a little in between. Here are a few of the images from Pappy's session.
Pappy was my last Lake Mead session for the year, but if you'd like to schedule a Lake Mead portrait session for your dog, let me know here, and I'll let you know when I'm scheduling for spring.
