Not sure what to get for your dog or your dog-loving friends for Christmas this year? I've got you covered with what I think is the best dog toy of 2023.
The dog toy you didn't know you needed
I'll admit, I've raved about many different dog toys, including several toys for freezing treats. I still appreciate all the other ones I have... but recently, I discovered the Woof Pupsicle, and this one is different. I'm even going to say, this one is better.
How does it work?
I suggest buying the Woof freezer tray, then you can use it to freeze your treats. unscrew the top of the Pupsicle, plop your frozen treat in, and twist the cap back on and give it to your dog. It couldn't be easier!
Easy To Clean
When your pup is done, just unscrew the top, wash or toss it in the dishwasher and it's ready to use again.
No-Mess In Your Freezer
I'm not sure if you've experienced the aggravation with the other frozen treat molds, where you fill them and carefully put them in the freezer, and no matter how hard to try not to spill, at least one will fall over. UGH!
Say goodbye to that mess! With the freezer tray, you can fill the tray, freeze for about two hours, then put the frozen treat into a ziplock and fill your tray again. In one day, you can have a whole freezer bag ready to go.
Safe
Unlike bully sticks or buffalo cheeks, where you have to monitor and be ready to grab that last piece before it's a choking hazard, with the Pupsicle, you can relax since there's nothing to choke on. Of course, if your dog is a powerful chewer, you'll still want to take it away when their done, just to be safe.

Whip Up Pooch-Pleasing Recipes
You can purchase the premade pops from Woof, but I prefer to make my pup pops. There are so many options, but I try to keep it easy and use some variation of these two recipes.
Yogurt & Pumpkin Bliss
Ingredients:
- A large container of plain yogurt
- 1 can of pumpkin
- Blueberries
Instructions:
1. Mix the large container of yogurt with the can of pumpkin until well blended.
2. Toss in some blueberries for an extra burst of flavor.
3. Fill your Pupsicle freezer tray and freeze for at least 2-3 hours.
Peanut Butter Pleasure
Ingredients:
- A large container of yogurt
- Scoop in regular peanut butter (about a cup, no artificial sweeteners)
Instructions:
1. Combine the large container of yogurt with a generous scoop or two of regular peanut butter.
2. Mix until the peanut butter is evenly distributed in the yogurt.
3. Fill your Pupsicle freezer tray and freeze for at least 2-3 hours.
I hope your dogs enjoy having some pupsicles rotated in with their other treats and chews.
Of course, dogs still need a well-rounded life with other activities. I've found that a variety of different treats and chews for 'treat time' in addition to a few minutes of one-on-one play or training time and a daily walk can make a significant difference in the overall happiness and well-being of my dogs. But, sometimes, even with a walk and a few minutes of gentle playtime, my, soon to be 14 year old, can get a little restless. If you have a senior dog, depending on your dog, you may be familiar with that restlessness they can sometimes experience, which seems to happen as soon as you sit down to relax. That's when 'treat time' is the answer for a few minutes of peace.
I hope you grab a Woof Pupsicle for your dog and enjoy a few extra minutes of relaxation while your dog slowly and happily enjoys their treat.

Lynn Sehnert - Thank you for the recommendation for a safe dog toy. Lili is picky about the toys she will eat from, so she may be getting a woof pupsicle for Christmas. The recipes for the frozen dog treats look healthy for Lili's tummy sensitivities.
