Urban Dog Photography
Fremont Street Experience is the dazzling heart of downtown Las Vegas, with its spectacular canopy of colorful lights and an electric atmosphere that never fails to impress.
During a recent rainstorm, I couldn't resist the opportunity to capture some urban dog portraits under the neon canopy. I headed out to Fremont Street with my trusty companion, Flea. As you can probably tell from his portrait below, he wasn't impressed by the rain. So, I let him warm up in the car and I was soon joined by two other furry models, Winston and Griz. We had a blast, despite the challenges we encountered.
Once the rain stopped, the reflection on the ground wasn't so awesome anymore, and then it started to get really crowded and people would stop right behind the dogs to watch what was going on, not realizing they were ruining the images. The other issue is that we were limited to the sidewalk and couldn't actually walk through the experience.
Another struggle was the way the canopy lights changed. Sometimes the colors would perfectly complement the dog, but then people would be too close, or the dogs would be distracted. When the people were gone and the dog looking forward, the canopy lights would change to something distracting like giant with stripes with chunky green stripes, or something equally distracting.
Despite the obstacles, we persevered and managed to capture a few images under all the neon.
Overall, the experience was both challenging and rewarding, and I would be totally up for doing another adventure there.
