This week, the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) conference took place here in Las Vegas. This event offers attendees access to various classes, keynote speakers, photography models, and vendor exhibits. You might be wondering why attending this conference could be beneficial for a dog photographer, so I'll share my thoughts and what I got out of it.
- Exposure to new ideas and perspectives
WPPI is an opportunity to learn about advancements in technology and software, see and touch products from various labs, photograph models, and learn from experts specializing in different genres of photography providing diverse perspectives and different ways of thinking.
- Connecting with other photographers
During my time there, I had the opportunity to meet some new people, catch up with those whom I hadn't seen in a while, and spend time with both a new friend and an old friend, and of course, I got to see Kaylee Greer of Dog Breath Photography in action!
- Inspiration and motivation
The classes I attended were incredibly inspiring. One of them struck a chord with me, highlighting areas I would like to improve on. Another reminded me of something that I had been wanting to do but have left on the back burner for far too long. Several classes were chock-full of valuable information. Overall, each class left me feeling motivated and excited to expand my knowledge and personal growth.
- A break from routine
WPPI was a welcome break from my day-to-day routine. I love what I do, but it's still nice to be able to step away from my desk and immerse myself in a new environment with new people and new ideas.
- Continuing education
I'm always game for learning new things and improving on what I know.
I believe that these benefits are applicable to all conferences. They possess the ability to revitalize you, offering a boost to your mental well-being, almost like a little vacation. So, if you're due for a conference in your field, I highly recommend signing up for one.
