Week 6 of the 52 Week Pet Photography Project
With Valentines Day coming up, the theme is appropriately Red/Love. Luckily I just edited some silhouettes for a client from the most amazing sunset session and thought they were perfect for this theme.
Red
There was nothing I could think of to do with these images as far as color, vibrance, etc. Just a couple of minor tweaks (adding a tree) and a little cleanup, mother nature of did it all for me.
Love
Like most dog people, I've had that one special, amazing dog, who was just perfect in every way. Once you have that, it can be scary getting another dog. After my first Border Collie, I was so worried about getting another one. I thought I would compare the two and the second one could never be perfect enough. It turns out, I was completely wrong. My second Border Collie isn't anything like my serious first BC, but he's just as perfect in every different way possible. That's the one consistent thing I've learned from all of my dogs, each one is unique, rarely what I expected, but still pretty darn perfect. Even the troubled, not so perfect ones are impossible to not love and I can't imagine life without each (naughty and nice) one.
A popular quote in dog training is to train the dog you have or train the dog in front of you. Here I think the lesson is to get rid of all expectations and love the dog you have. They are complicated living beings just like us, but with fewer flaws.

Nicole Hrustyk - Elain, they are! I love everything about them. The soft temperament, the crazy need to work, the quirks. I love it all!

Nicole Hrustyk - I lucked out with this one spot. It's the only place I know of where I can get silhouettes.
I think deer and rabbit poop are to dogs like ice cream is to me.

Elaine - Such wonderful silhouette images. We also have a Border Collie and they certainly are a very unique breed.

Kim Hollis - omg I love silhouette photos and I struggle to find a spot near me to do them. Thank you for sharing these. I can so relate to what you mean about loving each of your dogs. All of mine have been different and I've shared different bonds with each of them but I love them all. Our lab Moose is a handful... he gets into trouble all the time because of his nose (and then he gets an upset stomach) but we love him anyway. And he loves rabbit and deer poop. :(
