Mount Charleston Before and After (editing) Portraits of Flea
Mount Charleston is a wonderful place for a professional pet portrait session, especially, when it's too hot for a session in Las Vegas. I needed to shoot for one of my personal projects, a challenge with several other pet photographers where we photograph a specific assignment every two weeks. The assignment for this round was to photograph our subject on something. Being little, Flea was perfect for this assignment. I knew he would be small enough to sit on most of the logs.
Sometimes, it's hard to find the perfect spot, with great light, and the perfect background. So most of the time, Photoshop helps improve the look of what was lacking in a particular spot. So I thought I would share some before Photoshop and after Photoshop images.
I found a great log for Flea to sit on, but I struggled to find the right angle to shoot from. In the first image below, I loved the angle of the light, but the background was not what I wanted. So I moved a bit for the second shot, and I wasn't sure I was crazy about that angle either. Because of trees, I really only had those two spots to shoot from. Thankfully, Photoshop was able to help me out quite a bit.
For the image below, I found the spot I wanted for flea, then I fetched a rock for his front feet. I do wish I was at a slightly lower angle for this image.
I decided to drive around to look for another spot and found this giant log in a pretty open area, and this was the image I entered for the assignment.
